Dive Site Galera Islet – Es Vedra
Small islet that offers a beautiful dive in its North side wall.
Required level: Any.
Maximum depth: 28 meters.
Minimum depth: 5 meters.
North-East of the Island of Es Vedra we find La Galera, a small islet whos northern wall offers us a wonderful dive. We anchor on a big rock at about 5 meters deep and, from there, we dive down the wall that reaches a maximum of 28 meters deep. On the shallow area of La Galera, at the beginning of the descent, we swim through a crack in which we can find all kinds of fish: cardinalfish, Mediterranean rainbow wrasses, damselfish …
During the entire underwater journey that goes following the wall from East to West, you can see loads of moray eels since the bottom is formed by small loose rocks with a lot of hiding places for these animals. It is also an ideal place where to admire the bryozoan colonies hanging on the walls, as well as a wide variety of sponges and sea squirts, and impressive view for those divers who know how to appreciate the color of the rocks colonized by this type of animals.
In a similar way to La Bota, Galera Islet has a pleasant surprise to the fans of small life as it is possible to see some specimens of seahorses during the summer.
