Explosion of life inside the Marine Protected Area of Ibiza
Less than 5 minutes navigating from the Port of Ibiza and just over 20 minutes from the Port of Formentera, the “Small Dice” or Dado is one of the dives that holds more life and that pleases both the most experienced divers and those who are taking their first steps in the underwater world.
On one side we find a pinnacle that is full of small fish like Mediterranean rainbow wrasses, painted combers, damselfish and different species of seabreams. The shallowest rocks are completely colonized by hydrozoans, yellow anemones, sponges and all kinds of algae, which gives the area a very special color and makes it ideal for lovers of macro photography.
On the other side we also find a wall that’s oriented to the South-East, in whose fanciful seascape we find large rock blocks with abundant life: brown meagres, seabreams, moray eels, scorpion fish, barracudas, nudibranchs and spectacular schools of salemas with thousands of specimens that delight everyone who contemplate them. It is surprising that the closest dive site to the Port of Ibiza is one of the places that hosts more underwater life.
