The dive in Es Banc on the West side of Formentera inside the Marine Protected Area is very beautiful and well-valued by all divers. The mooring point is on a rocky platform that extends parallel to the coast with a depth ranging from 6 to 12 meters. This platform is delimited by a vertical wall in which there is a big cleavage and large collapsed blocks at the base. The bottom is an extensive flat area at 23 meters of white sand, ideal to observe the abundant and striking snorer or flying fish, small rays of different species, cuttlefish, sleeping dentex, squid (from February to May), etc.

Following the wall that’s the main attraction of the dive site, we find a small arch whose upper part is crossed by a large crack through which light filters from the surface. This place serves as a refuge for brown meagres, red mullets and groupers. On the Posidonia meadows surrounding the area, it is very common to find a large school of barracudas that, gallant and parsimonious, do not fear the divers.

In the last part of the dive, between the rocky platform and the main wall, there is a narrow swim-though which it is possible to access one-by-one. It is inhabited by cardinal fish, nudibranchs and moray eels, and finished off by a chimney that serves as an exit point and goes up from 13 to 8 meters.
